Every year as the new year approaches, I chuckle thinking about all the New Years resolutions that will be made, especially when it comes to fitness ones. The gyms are packed in January and come February, half the people have already given up on their New Year’s resolution and thrown in the towel. By March, all hope of finding a New Year’s “resolutioner” still working out has dwindled down the drain. Its funny how this happens year after year. Lucky for you, you can beat the odds and be one of the few who actually keeps their resolution and finds success. How you might ask. It’s simple: Take the First Step.

The hardest part about resolutions and goal setting is committing to take the first step. No matter what it is, this seems to always be the hardest part of accomplishing a goal, a dream, or an aspiration. I talk to so many people who have big dreams and goals in life but never do anything to work towards them. Even worse, I talk to people who have no goals in life and are content with just existing. Like COME ON, there’s so many amazing things in this world and you are just content with doing absolutely nothing? Set goals for yourself and work towards your dreams.

Our society lives in a constant state of fear and that’s the sad reality of the truth. The fear of failure plagues many and prevents people from getting out and accomplishing their goals and aspiring to become better. Stop living in fear and get out and take the first step. If your New Year’s resolution is to workout and become the best you possible, take the first step and persevere through the sweat and pain. If you want to become a world traveler, take the first step and create a bucket lists of all the places you want to visit and then start figuring out affordable ways to get there. If you want to become the worlds best ping pong player, then heck do it! At least it’s a goal and something for you to work towards and find meaning in.

With 2017 approaching fast, consider compiling a list of goals you have for the new year and stop at nothing to get yourself one step closer to them. Overcome your fear of failing and remember all you have to do is take the first step. If you can do this, you are already far ahead of the curve. So whats your New Years resolution?
